Dawn Delph and Carolyn Forsman
11 a. m. - 7 p. m. on July 3 in Washington DC on The United States Capitol Grounds - at Upper Senate Park just north of the Capitol Dome across the street from Constitution Avenue
My name is Carolyn Forsman and this was the second year I chained myself to help Dogs Deserve Better bring awareness to the millions of dogs that spend their entire lives on the end of chains or in cages and pens–how they suffer daily, year after year, and how many die a slow and painful death. A lot of people don't realize the severity and scope of what is happening. And they don't realize the serious injuries and deaths of individuals (many of them children) from dogs that become so aggressive because they are kept in constant confinement - no dog would ever choose living that way outside or indoors.
This year my husband Ed chained himself too. And for this year’s event, Unchain Our World, we went to the US Capitol Building in Washington, DC on July 3rd, and were joined by Dawn Delph and her boyfriend Jason Richardson. We were in Upper Senate Park which is a beautiful area with big shady trees, a view of the Capitol on one end and a large fountain on the other end. Though it was in the 90’s, we were fortunate because there was a good breeze most of the day.
We were right next to Constitution Avenue so there was a good amount of foot traffic, and we had the opportunity to speak to many people. Many were surprised by the degree of suffering that dogs experience when on a chain all the time and by the fact that so many injuries and deaths occur when chained dogs become aggressive towards people. Other people thanked us for taking a stand for continually chained and penned dogs.
Although it was a long hard day, I'm glad we went there and I hope all who chained themselves this year or help this cause in any way realize that they are making a difference for dogs and for people.
Please help us reach our goals and check out other chainees pages - some have really good news articles and TV coverage - also videos and pictures showing why people are so committed to this cause. Your efforts to bring awareness could help dogs that are suffering right now and help prevent another tragedy from happening to people!
THANK YOU to all who sponsor me!
